KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Timothy L. Young
Being a KISS fan for over 22 years now, since my single-digit years, the FAREWELL TOUR has become my first real KISS concert that I ever attended. Not because I didn't want to for the past 22 years, it's just that now that I live in a City with access to big-name concerts. Unfortunately, my first KISS concert will probably be my only one; unless, hopefully, KISS decides to have a post-farewell tour! *FINGERS-CROSSED*

Although I knew what to expect from a KISS concert, from my many videos of KISS & pictures, there's just nothin' like actually attending a live KISS concert. It is a spectacular event that just keeps you in awe from the faceless man that tells us "YOU WANTED THE BEST, YOU'VE GOT THE BEST...THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD...*KISS*!!!" to the finally flying confetti amongst the remnants of notes from their musical instruments. If you have blood-drooling & fire-breathing monsters, rocket-shooting guitars, cat-scratch fever, circus acrobatics, demons, cats, superstars, and spacemen...then it must just be an evening with KISS. ;-) Oh yeah, and the kick-ass, pounding music too!

The guys all looked in top form; quite a feat for 50 year old men in 40+ pound unifors. Gene was slithering all about the stage with his evil tongue; I like the fact that Gene puts on a monsterous persona, yet his solo music shows just how much of a pussy cat he can be. Oh wait, Peter is the cat...and scratch away on those drums he did...Peter provided the heart-pounding beat foundation that the frontmen fly upon. And Paul sure did fly...across the crowd...and with his majestic MC for this fabulous psycho circus. And there was ACE...my favorite KISSman for the past 20 years...looks great after loosing the PC-tour's extra pounds...it shows how much he truly likes being apart of KISS by the high-5's he slaps the other members with...what a team player! To watch it on video is one thing, to experience it is divine.

The Camden, NJ Sony Blockbuster Entertainment Center was a cool outdoor venue; even though it was 90 degrees and humid; but I like hot weather in the summer so it didn't bother me. The Center was packed. It was fun watching all the people come in with KISS makeup and t-shirts, getting ready for the exciting night ahead!

After the concert, I went home and played my KISS CD's all weekend; reminiscing about all the great fun the band has brought me. Paul & Gene say this is the end of the touring era of KISS: I can only hope they continually suprise us through other means, as they say the will. I just can't imagine life without KISS; and I'm talking about Ace, Peter, Gene and Paul together...somehow...in some way. The hope of unexpected excitement has been fulfilled by the 4 guys for the past 30 years; even though the tours may end, the hope of even more unexpected excitement from KISS will carry on.
