KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Ahgo
Well....KISS went out in a blaze of glory in their last show in Portland. The 300 (upper level) was closed off, but the lower area was packed. Probably 8,000-9,000 in attendance .$50 and $100 tickets are just too much for casual fans. I won't waste time talking too much about the openers. The Skids were O.K., but they need Bas. Nugent is a good performer, but his right wing proselytizing is just too fucking much and rather inconsistent. He speaks out against drugs and then backs the candidates who are in the pockets of big tobacco. Stick to playing the guitar Uncle Ted. About 1/3 of the crowd went nuts when he called Janet Reno a "filthy whore". The rest of us just shook our heads and looked at our watches.

I won't bore you with details about the set list (there were no suprises) but there were a couple of funny moments. Peter quit playing drums for a few measures in God of Thunder and Gene had to literally run to the stage to sing the harmony at the beginning of Black Diamond. Vocally, the band sounded great. The overall sound mix was off during a few of the songs (Psycho Circus had way too much bass). I love it Loud was the best of the non-makeup tunes. All three were fairly well received. All in all it was a great show. Thanks for all the great memories guys!!!!!
