KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Dan Miller
The show at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno was slightly different than Las Vegas which I saw eight days earlier. It was part of the University of Nevada, about 10,000 seats.A cool radio promotion outside had a Gene Simmons punisher bass autographed that he had used on this tour and a bust of the demon. Many people dressed in full costume and make-up.Skid Row was ok,Snake Sabo played in a chair with a big cast on his foot,3o mins.Ted Nugent was in fine form and had the crowd on it's feet,a good 50 min. set.Once the music stopped and the time had come for the famous intro the energy level instantly raised.Kiss was lowered down on the big platform and then the greatest show on earth was underway.Detroit Rock City then Deuce,Shout It Out Loud,I Love It Loud.I Stole Your Love was dropped from the encores.2000 man was Ace's other song oth! er than Shock Me and half of Cold Gin. The set list was the same other than that.Four bra's were thrown on stage and Paul caught a purple one and it hung from his guitar for a while. It looked good because that's his color from 79/8o.The pyro was all different colors and plenty of it.Ace's solo,he did riffs from Parasite,Hard Times, and Snow Blind. The smoke from the guitar went good. The shooting rockets, when it hit it seemed like a bigger explosion with a new look.Gene and Paul both flew.A good high energy show, with some cool new effect's.I was watching and as well being excited and overjoyed,I got a little emotional and teary-eyed thinking what if this really is the last tour.I've been a hardcore Kiss fan for 23 years, seen them 30 times in concert. I will go to at least 4 more shows this tour, nothing will ever compare to a Kiss show as far as visual entertainment and great songs. At the end when Peter rose there was twirl! ing pyro on both ends of the top of his platform. Then on Rock And Roll All Night,Gene and Ace both rose up on either side of the stage some 30ft. and Peter rose again without the double cat drape.Tons of confetti filled the entire arena. As the last burst of pyro-technic explosion burst and the legends left the stage, the lights came up God Gave RNR To You was playing.A satisfied crowd was hungry for more.Let's hope there will be.A life without new Kiss music and tours will be a hard thing to get used to.Long live Kiss and their army!
