KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: B.J.
3 months of anticipation,1200 miles,$3000 in airfares, concert tickets, accomodation. Was it worth it?HELL YES!I'd go again in a heartbeat!I was a little worried that going to the second,Sunday night show might be a little lame compared with Saturday night, but KISS rocked the house!Forget the set list, everyone has their own opinion on that, but here are some totally unbiased views of the whole thing, start to finish....Firstly,I get there and get confronted by a ticket scalper-"Hey mate, how'd youse like front row seats, best in the house,eh mate?"."piss off".Next the security guards had me worried "no camera's allowed",shouted over the loudhailer.Shit!better hide the damn thing.(i recall a review on this site that mentioned taking photo's?)The atmosphere was electric inside, lots of people buying T-shirts and programs.I was a little annoyed no lunchboxes,or other cool stuff.Still I grabbed a couple of T's.Some really hard out gene, ace and paul dudes walking around getting lots of attention.I mean REPLICAS!!Well done, heaps of effort put in.The Screaming Jets did a good set.The security guards really sucked. No shit, stand 12 inches in a aisle and you got growled at.Stand on a seat and you got your "first and last warning".I was too scared to pull my Nikon out in case i got booted out!The Yellow shirted,head-set equipped gestapo had a impact on the crowd i believe.Paul constantly had to rev the crowd up.I reckon most people were to scared to cut loose, apart from punch the air, clap and scream.Just a bit church like at times. The show was exactly the same routine as the first concert, apart from no medley, judging by the other reviews.Right down to Ace doing the kangaroo routine.Wonder why no medley?oh well, shit happens.Eric was just superb, much better than i thought he would be.I know a lot of people will hate this comment, but he should NEVER have been replaced.Sorry Peter.Paul was in fantastic form, both visually and orally.Ace was showing signs of losing it in both these area's.A hard life is really starting to show. Move over,Keith Richards.Gene was Gene, constantly thumping his chest and showing control, especially over the crowd. The thing with these guys is they are so professional,it's like McDonalds."you wanted a cheese burger, you got a cheese burger"No major let downs or dissapointments. But just like Cinderella, the ball was over far too soon. Before i knew it,the final bows had been taken.Back in the car, back in the plane, nothing but memories. No not even a photo....
