KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Stephen LaRue
Well, first off I want to say this was by far the best KISS concert I have ever been to. The reason why has to do with the encore but I'll get to that later. Anyway, this show was amazing. This is the first time my fiancee and I have been on the floor for a show and it was amazing. We were right next to the little stage that Paul flys out to during Love Gun. I know other people may have said this already but I'm going to say it again. This is the Farewell Tour; why do we have to sit through Skid Row and Ted Nugent. For Christ's sake shouldn't we just go see KISS up there playing their asses off for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or what? But, the show was incredible and the stage looks so much more awesome and bigger from the floor. First of all ACE IS GOD!!! He is by far my favorite member in the group and it just isn't the same w/out him or if he isn't on. Well, tonite HE WAS ON!!!!!!! I have never seen or heard ACE play as well as he did tonite. He never missed a be at on any songs in general and on any of his solos. Also, his vocals were great tonite which is an area he tends to lack sometime. 2000 Man rules! Gene and Paul were their usuals selfs and Peter really seemed into things tonite as well, laughing all the way through. Well, I won't bore you w/ the set list because it hasn't changed all though they did mix up the order just a little bit. So the show was great from beginning to end but here's the reason why it was so incredible and I'm glad I did not miss it. Syracuse was treated to an Unbelievable Encore. I don't think KISS has done this at any other show so far, at least I haven't read about it. So here it is. After Beth Peter was a little slow getting to the stage. So Paul goes into the speech about how there are so many songs to choose from and what should they play next. Oh, and I almost forgot, Paul did all the verses to I Still Love You tonite, also a first I think. While waiting for Peter, Paul says we could do this, and he ripped into the beginning of Makin' Love and then he started I Stole Your Love. Then Ace started to do the riff for She and they all started to play the song for about 15-20 seconds. By now Peter has appeared at this drum kit. He joins in. Then Gene started another song, I'm not sure what it was. Then Paul says, "I bet Peter would like to do this one. They started to do Hard Luck Woman and Peter sang the first verse. Then Ace ripped into New York Groove and they played a little of this. There might have been one or two others but I can't quite recall which ones. Anyway this lasted for a 10-15 minutes and I can't believe I was there to see it. IT WAS TOTALLY INCREDIBLE. Thanks Ace, Peter, Paul, and Gene for an awesome final show and for the last 27 years.
