KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Rob Maurer
First I would like to thank Alain B. (who also submitted several reviews for the shows up to this point in Japan), who I was able to obtain a ticket from. I didn't make it to the floor for this show, as I have for many U.S. shows, but the view was great from the seat I had. I traveled to Tokyo for the show with no ticket in hand, only a verbal committment and Alain came through. My girlfriend was able to purchase a ticket from Ticket Pia the day before the show, but she sat among the clouds in the top of the Tokyo Dome.

This show was just as great as all the U.S. shows I've seen, and as others have mentioned, it thrilled me to hear Ace sing 'Talk To Me' which is a sometimes forgotten song from a great album. If you've never heard 60,000 people, whom I'm sure most don't speak english, sing along with Kiss you're missing a wonderful experience. A few times during the show I just had to take a look around that massive arena to watch and listen to all of those Japanese Kiss fans clap and sing with our heroes.

Kiss sounded great, and although I've seen them nearly 20 times, I've never had the pleasure of hearing Eric Singer play live. What a machine!!! Since Peter hasn't been playing any solos during the Farewell Tour, it was nice to see that thrown back in the set. The entire set list has been listed, so I won't go into detail, but each song was played with maximum volume, and with maximum intensity to the enjoyment of all in attendance. With the exception of what appeared to be a minimized pyro set, this show gave each of them another opportunity to shine as only they can. The greatest moment of the night came when they came out before the encore and roamed the stage from edge to edge, running the length of it to say 'hi' to as many fans as they could. The entire place erupted with applause.

I hope this isn't my last Kiss show, but if it were, my Kiss concert desires have now been fullfilled, seeing them in 3 countries along with hundreds of thousands of my Kiss brothers and sisters.
