KISS Tour 2000 Reviews

From: Simon Ali
Last night's New Year's Eve, KISS show had to be the best KISS concert I have ever seen. Before the show, as we were all waiting outside freezing, we got to hear the soundcheck, which from what I heard was "Psycho Circus, Heaven's on Fire, Lick It Up, and 2000 Man". BC Place Stadium was decorated with the two huge KISS Army banner's and had spinning KISS logo's all over the roof. After the 3 opening bands were finishing, we finally were close to seeing KISS, probably their biggest show ever. At 11:12 pm, the lights went off and the greatest show on earth began.......

There was a great opening with footage from every year, 1973 all the way to 1999. They finally showed the non-makeup era and homage to Eric Carr. The open sequence said "They all said we were crazy to do this.............and we are. That just set the pace. All the great footage from the Asylum tour and Hot in the Shade tour were great. The final sequence "WE'RE READY TO ROCK YOU??"

The rumble began, the opening line and KISS kicks into "Psycho Circus". Full pyro and all, into "Shout it out Loud" and crowd frenzy "Duece". All was set into motion and then the moment I was waiting for "Heaven's on Fire". The amount of fire every time they said the chorus was blinding. The crowd was going crazy. I almost had a heart attack, as this is my favourite song. The set list was full of great songs, finally. Ace had "Shock me", into Firehouse, and "Let Me Go, Rock n' Roll", and the countdown to midnight was not a countdown. All of a sudden, it was midnight and some pryo went off and into a great version of "2000 Man". Next was "Do You Love Me", "Cold Gin" and Ace's solo, which was great.

Next up was Gene's chance to shine with "God of Thunder", will blood and the flying to full extent. After Paul was talking about the fact that there were a few songs they have not played in a few years, it was amazing to hear "Lick it Up" and it was done perfectly. After this, onto "I Love It Loud". I did notice, the biggest responses were the post original line-up era. Paul then got his chance to get the crowd to scream for him to come out for "Love Gun", but just as he was going there was no Ace, he was side stage and Paul had to ask for him. I was funny seeing that, then Peter does some little drum beat and Ace comes dancing out, just looked hilarious. After Paul flew back, it was time for "100 000 Years" and set closer "Black Diamond". After the band left and came back on for the encores, the crowd was going crazy.

Paul comes out and introduces "Detroit Rock City", then surprise song "Into the Void". Paul was flying on this song. Next was Peter and "Beth", which I do admit, his voice has gotten better and he has lost that gut he had on the Reunion Tour. Unfortunately it was the show closer with "Rock n' Roll All Night, which I must admit was wild with all the confetti throughout the whole song, and a tonne of pyro at the end. The first thing I said after this show was, this is the best KISS show I have ever seen. What A Great Show. I am so glad I got to see the Best KISS SHOW EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
