KISS Tour 2000 Reviews

From: John Huntington
What can I say about the show that's not already been said, but this was my experience. I walked down to the dome at about 6:30 pm, and could hear a soundcheck. When I got closer it was KISS playing the tail end of Lick It Up. It was hard to make out songs being played standing right outside of the doors, so I walked up the street a little again and over the next 35 minutes heard Ace's solo, Into The Void and I love It Loud. Someone had mentioned they had also heard them do Heavens On Fire, but I was actually happy that there would still be that suprise during the show.

People weren't kidding about lineups at the sovenier stands. From my count, there were only three stands at the show and it took me a while to get my shirts. I'm glad it was the first thing I did, since every NYE concert related shirt was sold out before KISS took the stage.

As for the show, the stage set was massive with Gene and Ace blowups on Gene's side, and Peter and Pauls on the other. The two KISS Army logos that were at Dodger Stadium were hanging from the ceiling, with the two lit KISS logos below them.

The performance was good, but nothing special IMO. I do have to admit that the joking going on by Paul, Ace, and Gene throughout the night was funny. I really hop it makes it onto the Alive IV album. The pyro was the best I've seen in person and it really should look great on video. They certainly got enough people on the floor to make it look massive. Personally I was glad to stay in my seat which was quite a bit away from the stage. Although I couldn't see the band as well, I got a much beter view of the massive set and pyro which was most impressive to me during DRC and RARAN. It also really looked like a zoo on the floor, and knew there were quite a few drunks down there :-) It was hard to walk on the concrete on the floor after the show due to all the beer spilled. Judging by some of the other reviews, the General Admission areas of the floor really wasn't the place to be.

All in all, I'm glad I flew out from Toronto for the event. Vancouver really is a beutiful city. Unfortunately the weather sucked while most were here for the show and the mountains and the sun were hidden until Saturday and Sunday. I'm glad I could be a small part of KISStory and spend a New Years watching the band I love...
