KISS Tour 2000 Reviews

From: Lorne
Thanks for reading my review.

By now you have probably read a lot of other reviews on NYE. This one I hope will be different. For one thing, I live in Vancouver. I did not travel to see the band, although I have in the past, I did not get a seat in the first 10 rows although I also have in the past, nor did I buy any merchandise, God knows how much I have done that in the past. I just went with a few friends who were virgins, never seen a KISS show until NYE, and that is all.

Without givng the set list, again, or talking about the movie they played prior to the band storming on stage, I only want to say this.

First of all, the movie they showed prior to the show had a ton of fottage that I have never seen before and believe me, I'v got a ton of KISS video. This footage is gold footage and when the Alive 4 video comes out, I think you will love the intro here. They boys showed something before that I have rarely seen from them and that, I hate to say it, is class. The film gave us a great intro and was truly a pleasure to see.

The show, honestly, out of the 14 or 15 shows that I have seen to date which include the Reunion tour, all non make up tours, Dynasty in 79 and even the Creatures make up tour, this was indeed the best KISS show I have ever attended. The 80's tunes were fantastic, HOV, awsome, LIU, never better and ILIL, tastey, very tastey and I hate ILIL. It seems to me like the guys are trying really hard to give ACE more space on stage. On New Years Eve, they were indeed 4 rock stars playing together and a rock band. The encore was so well done. Each member got to do a number and leaving Into The Void in the set was smart.

For the first time in 20 odd years, the show to me seemed like, this is who we are and here is what we do and no more the Gene and Paul show. With the addition of the 80's material, it seems like the band has reinvented itself again. This is not the same KISS we saw on the reunion tour. This is a re-comitted KISS. The show is fresh again and they guys to me looked very happy. I even saw Ace dance around on stage a little bit giving Paul and Gene a good laugh. I was worried that the band might be on it's last legs for a while. You know, the Ace is leaving stuff and whatnot. Fortunately, I saw no evidence of this on stage. The guys are great, they are back and this time, as it says right at the ens of the opening film, they do rock. See the Alive 4 tour, you will have a blast.
