KISS Tour 2000 Reviews

From: John K
Hey KISS fans, The KISS Alive IV, New Years Vancouver Concert was the only place I could imagine being! First off, my wife Wendy, my friend Scott, and I made a huge KISS 2000 Alive IV banner and were in the front row of the balcany assigned seats. We were straight back from the stage on Gene's side and had a absolutely awsome view! Before the concert we had to stand in line for almost 2 hours to get a couple of T-Shirts and a poster. For all those in line at those stands they know IT WAS HORRIBLE! I use crutches and was pushed and pulled the entire time. There was no respect for others and I believe the main reason was alcohol that was running rampid. All the true KISS fans were cool, but there were alot of drunks that didn't care and were acting like jerks. Once in the concert we only had a few minutes before KISS came out. We missed the opening bands due to the reason above. They had the curtain come down and had a video of the history of the band. That was very cool. Then about 11:30 or so KISS came out with the Psycho Circus certain up and went into "Psycho Circus"!It was a great openning song. Peter seemed to be doing well. I think his surgery healed and had no effect on his drumming, although Peter did not do a drum solo. After that they went into "Shout It Out Loud" and everyone was going crazy. They played a few more songs and it was midnight. Paul just said "Okay do we want to do a countdown"... and then he said "ah well ITS 2000"! That was a total drag. Everyone around us and below us where shouting for a countdown and I have to say it was the low point of the evening. Ace then broke into "2000 Man". The audience did react to alot of the interactions of Paul and for sure Gene on "God Of Thunder", but there just wasn't enough new stuff and there was not many video shots of the audience or people dressed up. I thought there was going to be a video made that night like the one in Detroit where the fans were one of the most important parts of the night. I didn't see but ONE shot of the crowd the entire night. They played almost the same songs from Alive III, the Reunion Tour, and Psycho Circus Tour, with only "Into The Void", and "Psycho Circus" as new ones. It just seemed that they really needed to put in a new set and surprise everyone. Even on "Love Gun" Paul faced toward the stage instead of the back of the arena. Okay, all the complaining aside, the concert was great at the same time because it was KISS!!!! I loved it because it was KISS!!! All the people who shared in the concert near us and at the hotel had a lot to say about the concert. Ultimately, it comes down to a few points. First, Ace said to the audience during his solo "Hey don't fall asleep on me"! Second, there were more fights and jerks than I have ever seen at a KISS concert. We all still have some constants, and consistancies, when it comes to KISS that keeps us in thier corner. One, awsome stage. Two, they blow up everything. Three, they allways put on a great spectical! I love KISS and allways will, that is one more constant I can allways rely on. Thanks for reading my drivel, and "Never Stop Rockin"
