KISS Tour 2000 Reviews

From: Britt Mindes
Some bands read the book....KISS wrote it!!!! New Years Eve Vancouver!!! I flew from Houston, TX to see what was and will be considered one of the best concerts of all time...With the show being taped and filmed for Alive IV, the Boyz kicked it up to 5th gear and kept it there all evening...The show started with the standard "YOU WANTED THE BEST" but anyone in attendance will tell you this was not the average KISS concert...

Suprises...Many...I've seen KISS now 15 times and can honestly say there was more pyro used than ever before... Non-makeup songs were great..especially when Paul announced these were songs they havent done in awhile, and Ace stepped up to mention " Only better now" ... As far as Ace and Peter playing the new songs, they gave it the classic KISS touch and actually gave the songs the "classic" KISS sound... While it's obvious the guys don't move around like they did 20 yrs ago the "feeling" was still very much there....Glitches during the show were minor, Gene had to flap his cape a few times during God of Thunder for the tech to get the hint to start the lift that took Gene to the top...Ace's solo was pretty much standard with a few bleeps in it..At one point Ace stated " Don't fall asleep on me" during his solo..Peter, basically the same solo...Paul, " I waaaaanaa come out there and see ya" during Love Gun, but only if you're loud enough at which point the video monitors displayed VU meters to "measure" the crowd noise...Towards the end I guess Gene and Paul gave in....Ace ripped "Into the Void" the only other Psycho Circus song performed other than the title track...Final Thoughts... I've seen KISS on every tour between Love Gun and current....of which I can say the only show I would rate above Vancouver would be Dodger Stadium Halloween 98" KISS defines Halloween and made that show extra special even though this was the century ending show....Basically though, if you're a General in the KISS Army and were not in Vancouver Friday night, you need to re-evaluate your ranking in the fan club for THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME....NUF'SAID!!!
