KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Laura Edwards
Cut out of work early this past Friday to go to the greatest concert of all, the KISS Farewell Tour. My co-workers all thought I was insane, but what do they know?

Got to Jones Beach to wonderful weather with a light breeze of the ocean. Sat down in my seat and waited for the night to begin.

Skid Row hit the stage to little or no response from the crowd. Where as Ted Nugent on the other hand seemed to stir up a few of the audience a little more.

Everyone though was waiting for the band of the night, KISS.

When that KISS logo came down in silver lame on black, the whole theater went wild. (In case you didn't know, Jones Beach is an outside venue, right on the waters edge. Great for night shows like this.) The lights fell and everyone was apprehensive, especially myself, as this was my second and final KISS concert. To hear the ever popular saying " You Wanted The Best, You got The BEST, The HOTTEST BAND IN THE LAND, KISS!" and see the guys coming down on the platform started the night of perfect. "Detroit Rock City" started the whole stadium rockin and no one stopped till the guys just wouldn't come back again. As I looked around, I never saw such a sight. All kinds of people from all walks of life came to see the guys. Everybody knew the words to every song.

I have to say this much though, I will admit that I cried at the end. I know there is always a time for good things to end, but why this one is what I kept asking myself? Then I remembered, KISS lives on in all the people in the audience. The fans will keep KISS alive within their hearts and minds, and will continue to play the music that brought us all together in the first place.

To the guys, I am glad that you all met when you did as you provided all of us, the fans, with a great rock and roll band that in our hearts will never die. You brought together some very interesting marriages, mine included. You spanned the globe and showed the whole world how to "Rock and Roll all night, and party everyday".

Peter, you were the rhythmn that made it right. Ace, you were the "out there" aspect that we all need, the carefree attitude. Paul, you were the glamour that we all wanted to be, the "star" per say, that we all wished to be. Gene, you were the sexual and demonic all in one, the so called "bad boy" that so many girls looked for, and so many guys wished they could be.

On the whole though, you are KISS, the band that rocked Jones Beach on June 9, 2000 and didn't let a single fan down.

Thank you to all four of you.
