KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Ken Picking
You wanted the best, you got the best, the hottest band in the world-KISS!!! This was my 3rd show of the tour (San Antonio, KC, Wichita) The band kicked off with Detroit Rock City and it kicked! All four members were in great form. Gene, however, did repeat verses on I Love It Loud (he's notorious for that) but no one, myself included cared. I think the originals did a great job with the 80s material. The songs sound fresh again with a cool twist-Ace added some harmonic notes to Lick It Up and Peter hit his crashes on tne bridge (of LIU) instead of the toms (like the Erics). One funny moment came after Paul's solo (I Still Love You-not one of my favorite tunes but great vocal from Paul) when he told a kid with a laser light to stop it or he'd shove it up his ass. He also said it was a bit too late for 2nd graders to be up and that we had 10,000 cool people here and one asshole, and that's one too many. The set list did not vary as usual but all the hits were there including one of my favorite live numbers-Let Me Go Rock n Roll. Overall a great cross section of KISS material. Wichita is usually fairly quiet compared to bigger cities but on this night they were roaring. Every show on this tour was very special for me, and I'm sad to see the greatest band (live or otherwise) go, but, as they said they wanted to go out on top, and believe me they certainly did that!!!!
