KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: APS
Overall - a great show.
Highlights: * "Won't Get Fooled Again" before the band went on - the curtain dropped with the huge Kiss logo in synch with Daltrey's scream and I realized that the best 'warmup' act of all was simply the dropping of that logo.
* The band sounded tight. Kiss know the art of the show, but they've never sacrificed their musicianship. Sure, it isn't brain surgery, but they didn't once sound insincere or as if they weren't playing like *this* show might be their last.
* Cool setlist ... I can rest easy now having seen the original lineup do "Calling Dr.Love". I was also amused to see the original lineup doing "Heaven's On Fire" and "Lick It Up" too actually - I enjoyed Ace and Peter's contributions to those songs.
* Paul's Farewell - "We'll see you in your dreams!" and then the lights went out. Perfect.

Disappointments:
* Ted Nugent. He made homophobic and borderline racist comments ("If you can't speak English, then get the fuck out of Canada!"). First of all Ted, please don't presume that Canadians need you to speak for us. Most importantly though, Ted's attitude eventually boils down to cowardice, negativity, and intolerance. KISS, on the other hand, have openly espoused pride, positivity, and a spirit of freedom ... so why is KISS letting this guy bring their audience down? Sad. I was embarassed for him in the end. Small minds don't deserve to share the stage with KISS.
* At some point in the show, Gene wiped the blood off of his chin, and most of his makeup (on his chin that is) came off. He looked a little strange (out of character?) in close ups on the monitor afterwards with no makeup on his chin. This is nitpicking of course.
