Kiss Covered In Scandinavia
A new 1997 limited edition 2 CD set of Scandinavian bands doing their versions of Kiss favorites. Includes a nice color 6-page booklet with info on the bands and a color rear photo insert of Gene in concert. The cover shows a couple of Kiss-crazy fans surrounded by their memorabilia collection. Inside photo is same with 5 fans. The engineering and mixing is very good on all tracks, with a reduced quality on Peter's interview section only.

Disc 1: Contains 15 Tracks including:

1. Detroit Rock City by Moon Flower
* Like Ratt doing this great tune. This band is good enough to stand on its own. This track just freakinı rocks!!
2. Cold Gin by Hakan Hemlin & Mike Nilsson
* Faithful to the original track with rousing testosterone-filled choruses and heavy lead guitar work.
3. Escapee From the Island by Lindgren 5 Steps
* A Jazz instrumental version with great sax & trumpet. If youıre looking for great sax, look no further! 4. God of Thunder by Entombed
* A heavy, screaming version of G.O.T., but otherwise faithful to the original.
5. Rock Bottom by Leila K.
* Starts out oh-so-sweet, then turns into a surprisingly faster, rocking, rappinı, rippinı version of this Kiss classic. Great lead guitar work and a dash of synthesizer thrown in to boot! Hey, it will grow on you!
6. Beth by The Creeps
* Pretty close to the original, with a 90ıs sound. Nice Spanish guitar work.
7. Goin' Blind by Borgvall Chamber Ensemble
* An instrumental with very nice Spanish guitar work.
8. All American Man by Hellacopters
* Faithful to the original with rippinı guitar work, and the vocalist sounds like heıs singing into a tin can.
9. Black Diamond by Infinite Mass
* A funky blues version with dulcimer accompaniment and a haunting chorus of Black Diamond.
10. CıMon and Love Me by Sator
* Wow, a double-time version of this favorite! Cool! Faithful to the original tune.
11. Love Gun by Dia Psalma
* Just like the original version, but the dude sings like the Tygers of Pan Tang.
12. Do You Love Me by Livin' Sacrifice
* Chicks dig singing Kiss too! Rather like Joan Jett doing this Kiss classic. Marla Wessleus on lead vocals. Two good-lookinı chicks and two dudes can crank it out.
13. Parasite by Gone
* Like the original with synthesizer cluttering up the hurling sound of the dudeıs singing. Wailing lead guitar work.
14. Rock & Roll All Nite by Happy Nite Quartet
* Okay, itıs a barbershop quartet, but these dudes can sing! ³Jam² along with Tommy, Gunnar, Rolf & Greger as they put a new twist on Kiss. Bizarre, but darn cool in stereo! Love it or hate it! This stuff puts goose bumps on your skin either wayŠ
15. Kiss Talks
* A few quick quotes from Gene, Paul, Ace & Peter. Rather a teaser for Disc #2ŠGeneıs first Kiss. Paul talks about what makes a great band great. Ace wrecks his hotel room - just to show whatıs itıs like. Peter learns how to say goodbye in Swedish.

Disc 2: Contains interviews with the original Kiss members including:

Ace Frehley 1987: Ace talks about his style and influences. Ace explains that he plays spontaneously and emotionally. He considers himself a guitarist first, a songwriter second and a vocalist third. Ace discusses his departure in 1983 between management, lawyers and the band, pressure and stress. Ace became tired of the make-up, the Kiss organization, and his positions being outvoted by Gene & Paul. Ace's describes his feelings about Bob Ezrin, that he did not want to work with him due to creative differences, and divulges that Bob cut-out much of his solo guitar work from The Elder. Ace still has the tapes as proof. (Let us have them! - Restore The Elder unto Us!) (You can bet that Bob Ezrin will not produce the next Kiss album!)

Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley 1992/1993: Gene & Paul discuss their philosophical perspective. Gene asserts that the crucial element is balls. Gene discusses the emotional trials of the death of Eric Carr and the unmasking of Kiss. Paul & Gene discuss their concept for their mega-hit double-album Alive! Paul tells a funny story about the first Kiss album. Gene & Paul deal with the subject of the original members break-up and their decision that Kiss would live on after Peter & Ace choose to pursue solo careers. Gene talks about his addiction to fame, power and excess, and his return to his senses. Gene believes, "you have to be the one to kick yourself in the butt, because your friends won't."

Peter Criss 1988: Peter discusses his feelings about leaving the band and his desire to play "soul-rock". By 1978 Peter was already wanting out of the band. The solo albums were the beginning of the end, after that, Peter says that egos began to get in the way. Peter talks about Kiss Meets The Phantom of the Park and the commercialization of Kiss, and that he felt the band was losing its way among all the insanity.. Peter asserts that their greatest albums were Alive!, Destroyer, and Rock Œn Roll Over. (Iım with you man!)

Kiss Covered In Scandinavia is a cool musical diversion for the insatiable Kiss appetite with the added bonus of an entire interview CD with the original members.
